Caetano

Edmundo Caetano is a Portuguese entrepreneur, founder and managing director of Caetano Group. In 2015, aged 29, he left PwC to create Legaliza na Hora, which today counts more than 10,000 vehicles legalised and the Quality Award 2026. From that first brand he built a group of ten brands, from car importation to credit, technology and real estate.

Education was the starting point. A law graduate, Edmundo Caetano completed a Master's in Tax Law and a postgraduate qualification in Company and Securities Market Law at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and in 2013 joined the African Tax Project, a partnership between Católica Tax and PwC that produced the tax legislation compendia of Angola and Mozambique. Two years at PwC Portugal followed, as a tax consultant in Wealth Management.

The business idea came from personal experience. When importing his own car, he realised that almost nobody explained to citizens the alternative ISV calculation method, which in many cases reduces the tax due. Legaliza na Hora was founded in December 2015 to solve that problem: to make vehicle legalisation clear, fast and rigorous on tax.

Ten years on, the method is the same and the scale is different. Each need identified among clients gave rise to a brand: Caetano Trust to import from official dealerships, Caetano CarGo to transport, LH Finance to finance, Caetano COC for certificates of conformity, Caetano Core for the technology that connects everything, and Caetano Build, with Caetano Serenity, Caetano Soul Villa and Caetano Ouro Villa, to reinvest the results in quality real estate. That is how Edmundo Caetano builds: solve a real problem, prove it works, and only then build the next brand.
